Summer weddings are such a joy, especially when you’re out in the countryside with a cool breeze and plenty of space to run about. So what do you do when you live and work in the City? Our wonderful capital City of London? A summer wedding in the City? Yes please!
Award winning wedding planner Jane of Planned for Perfection got in touch with a number of wedding photographers (yours truly included) to ask us to present and put forward our ideas and services to engaged couple Emilija and Joe. Team NKP was chosen I am delighted to be sharing this gorgeous wedding with you all.
Jane helped Emilija and Joe to realise their dream wedding in the height of August in the centre of London! It was hot, there was traffic to contend with, guests to get from numerous locations to the Church and then onto the reception. And the majority of guests flying in from the USA and Europe. The wedding team Jane had pulled together worked seamlessly to ensure that their wedding day was a day of dreams come true. Total teamwork!
And so here without further ado is their Wedding Story for you to enjoy…
Emilija had chosen shoes for the day and shoes for dancing (above). Obviously the shoes for dancing had to be Christian Louboutin with their fabulous red soles!
Jewellery came from Cartier and was both old and new.
Emilija’s dress was flown into the UK especially for her wedding day…
And of course flowers by none other than Rob Van Helden Floral Design
Emilija and her bridal party got ready at the family home in West London…
Of course some Jimmy Choos for the wedding day… it would be rude not to!
We worked along side the very lovely Mr & Mrs Productions throughout the day…
As Emilija starts to make her way to the Church with her Father…
…Joe was on his way too from a different location in west London…
Arriving at St Sava in Notting Hill, Joe was greeted by their guests before the ceremony began.
Our gorgeous Bride arrives!
St Sava has a fairly simple facade on the outside. This classically styled exterior architecture belies a lavish spectacle once inside of oil-painted iconography and majesty on the inside. St Sava is exquisite…
As the ceremony flows the sense of majesty grows even greater with the symbolic crowning common to all Orthodox wedding ceremonies.
Emilija and Joe are now officially married and pose outside St Sava before heading over to The Savoy Hotel to celebrate…
Although we were going at quite a pace we ensured that we took some time to go out into the streets locally to The Savoy to take some gorgeous photographs of them. And who knew that Robert Raikes (statue behind) was from Gloucester. I didn’t know that at the time of taking the image!
We of course took the time to take the must have iconic photographs at the front of The Savoy Hotel. And I couldn’t have timed it better with the cab in the background; ‘Best Thing Ever’ – yes it absolutely was!
Making their way inside we stopped off for a couple of photographs in some of the most iconic and well known areas of The Savoy. I had taken a day and visited The Savoy a few weeks before to meet the team there and to update my mind with a recce of the hotel. This meant that I had worked out a plan before the wedding day and had this signed off by the hotel, ensuring that we could take the images we wanted for our Clients.
Joe and Emilija posed for their family and group photographs in the River Room whilst their guests were served champagne and canapes.
Before we all headed to The Ballroom at The Savoy for their wedding breakfast.
For those of you who know The Savoy well you will know that The Ballroom is huge! Yet with only c.60 guests it was planned that The Ballroom was divided into three distinct areas to balance this. The dining area took over a small third, with a large dance floor in the middle, and a chill out area with sofas and coffee table for relaxing taking the third section.
If you love a large venue but have a smaller number of guests don’t be afraid to think outside of the normal layouts and make it work for you.

Our happy couple and their guests feasted on the most exquisite food with speeches providing more laughter, memories, and emotions…

Following Emilija and Joe’s romantic first dance, family and friends joined in for some energetic group dancing!
At the end of the day our happy couple retired to their suite with a stunning view over the London skyline, private butler, and of course some champagne. We were long gone by the time the party came to an end but were given a sneaky peak of their suite so that we could take the photographs for them.
