This was a lovely surprise…
I received and email from The Guild of Photographers to tell me that this lovely image of Debs and Chris had been selected for the Image of the Day.

What a huge honour!
Here is the info to go with this…
The shot was taken at a venue I know very well and have taken the time to explore. Specifically chosen locations around the lake with views of the bridge with a ‘frame’ made of the natures finest of the season created the framing. Once the camera was in the location spot I went back to the bridge and coaxed Debs and Chris into pose position and then asked them to do a few specific things when I shouted ‘go’ from the other side of the lake!
Camera settings:
Exposure time: 1/100
F-stop: f/2.8
ISO 160
Exposure bias =0.7
Using a Canon 100mm 2.8 lens
Using a Canon 5D mkiii
For me its all about framing and this is perfectly framed without looking too contrived. The colours all compliment each other really nicely and showcase the autumnal feel of the day.
I photograph a limited number of weddings a year (in a normal year!) so I get to know my couples well before their wedding days. This for me is critical as the relationship built on mutual understanding and trust means that my Clients respond to what I ask them to do without question as they know the results will be timeless, elegant, and beautiful. What stood out for me with this image is the couple themselves. Chris was in the middle of campaigning for the general election as an MP and yet they had a calm and sincere love enveloping them that only a couple deeply in love can have. It was a real moment in time.
