Just before Christmas I was fortunate enough to get together with some wonderfully talented suppliers to create an inspirational winter wonderland styled shoot. It was the perfect opportunity for us to collaborate and let our creativity run away with us.
For this shoot I wanted to create an elegant, romantic take on a winter wonderland.
Using a fresh palette of cool blues, frosty greens and neutral tones complimented by candlelight, to create a sophisticated and intimate winter ambience.
The romantic setting of Hampton Court Castle, nestled in 500 acres of Herefordshire countryside, provided the perfect backdrop.
The beautiful 15th Century, exclusive-use, castle is steeped in history and boasts some truly unique features, such as the central stone staircase with its decorative ceiling and corridors lined with knight’s armour.
Two different table settings were created – one to showcase a more natural, earthy vibe with the wooden trestle table and another, a slightly more formal option of a clothed round table. The ornate marble fireplace was made even more of a feature with a relaxed, loosely compiled garland across the top to compliment the florals used on the table. The warm glow of candlelight was central to this winter wonderland, giving that romantic, intimate lighting and element of warmth to counter the otherwise cool palette. The trestle tables, elegant oak cross backed chairs and table linen were provided by Hospitality Services. The place settings used accents of grey and navy with pops of gold and white in the cutlery giving the table a contemporary look. Tableware and glassware were provided by Whitehouse Event Crockery. Stationery was provided by Bella Peach Creative and added a wonderful finishing touch to each place setting.
Flowers were created by Aqua Wedding Flowers who used a stunning combination of white Roses, Ranunculus and lush Eucalyptus foliage with pops of silver. This time of year provided the perfect opportunity to use Brunea Berries too – a cute little grey/blue berry that was perfect for this palette.
For the bridal styling Posy and Pearl used two beautiful dresses, both by Bianco Evento, with veils and a fur cape by Richard Designs. The fur lined blue cape and tiara were from Posy and Pearl. The bride’s hair was expertly swept up into an elegant ponytail, befitting of any modern princess, by Jodi Croft. Make up was kept fresh, natural and subtle by Leanne O’Neill Makeup, enhancing our bride’s natural beauty.
The ceremony backdrop used a simple copper stand from Wedding Creations UK, drapes and floral sprays to create a beautiful focal point.
Sugar Bowl Bakes created an elegant collection of cakes to show a different take on the more traditional stacked tiers, adding a modern feel and pleasing aesthetic by displaying as a group. These beautiful cakes, with textured buttercream, pearls and gold leaf, truly show that small cakes can be just as stunning as the larger ones – something that is becoming more prevalent in this world of smaller weddings.
