A Barn at Upcote wedding for Lucy & Rob

We love photographing weddings at The Barn at Upcote as its such a stunning venue and one that can be transformed into a truly bespoke day for our brides and grooms and the wedding of Lucy and Rob was no different. I met this lovely couple when they came to my Studio for an initial chat about their wedding photography over coffee and cake!

It was a cool October day that dawned for their wedding day and to combat the potential grey of an autumn day they had chosen hints and colour pop of hot pink and purple which suited the setting of the Barn at Upcote down to the ground and reminded me of the initial photo shoot I had worked on for the Barn at Upcote when they launched. The colours were perfect and created warmth and fun which mirrored the personalities of this lovely couple.

Lucy and Rob had both said that they were a little camera shy during our meetings, however one thing I noticed during our conversations was that when they look at each other they both have these beautiful smiles that each of them evokes in the other. These smiles are just for each other and it really is rather magical to watch and certainly gives you goosebumps when you’re taking photographs like this!

Rob and Lucy had the lovely Kate to marry them, one of the well known and respected members of the Gloucestershire Registration team and I can’t think of a more perfect fit, and with their families and friends there to support them it made for an exquisite day. What struck me about this wedding was the genuine love and affection these families have for each other; the laughter, the gentle teasing, and the warm smiles and laughter were in abundance.

The grounds at The Barn at Upcote are so special; from the dramatic open landscapes (we all jumped in my 4×4 and set off!) to the quintessentially English gardens of the Barn, you really do have the best of both worlds.

We had a team of two on for this special day ensuring that we didn’t miss a moment, and with family and friends travelling in for the big day from across the UK we ensured that the documentary wedding photography that we are well known for was captured, creating magical memories for generations to come. A big shout out to #TeamEssex – will someone explain to me about the no socks with shoes trend!?!

Many congratulations Lucy and Rob!

Here’s what they had to say:

“Nikki and the NKP team partnered with Rob and I to capture the most fabulous, natural and authentic images of our wedding.

As a couple who both shy away from cameras and prefer to be the one taking photos, choosing a photographer was not easy, until we met Nikki.

Nikki’s passion for her work is infectious and within minutes of talking to her, we had no doubt about using NKP.  Nikki is bubbly, creative and authentic.  She listened attentively to everything we told her about us and our day and this is one of the many qualities that sets Nikki apart from other photographers that we engaged with.

We would highly recommend Nikki to any of our friends and family as her style is so versatile and original. With a wonderful ability to paint memories through photography, we were blown away by the end product and can’t thank the team enough. Just need an excuse to book Nikki again in the future! X”

Here is their wedding story… Enjoy!
