Goodness what a way to start the week!
I belong to an industry body called The Societies of Photographers and for years I have watched the legends in our industry win award after award after award on an international playing field. I go to the huge awards dinner where photographers fly in from across the globe to receive their awards and I am in awe of each and every one of them. I sit there in my evening dress feeling very small and rather overwhelmed by these masters in their fields. And now I have my feet well and truly on the ladder…
The Societies’ Monthly Image Competition as its name suggests is run every month. There are 29 categories that cover all aspects of photography and the competition and categories are judged by some of the most esteemed Fellow, Master and Grand Master photographers in the UK and across the World. Entries come in from across the Globe every month for this competition.
In September (and by the skin of my teeth) I entered into the category ‘Bride or Groom Alone Wedding Day’. Danni and Ralph had collected their images just hours before and I always like for my Clients to have their images before I enter any awards! Images entered into this category must have taken at commissioned weddings where the entrant was the principle professional photographer and must have been taken on the day the register was signed. The judges are looking for images of either the Bride or Groom alone in a style or photojournalistic style.
Now as everyone knows wedding photography is fast paced given how much everyone wants to rightly pack into their day. However over the past few months since lockdown lifted I’ve persuaded my brides (and grooms) to take a few moments so that we can take solo Bride and also Groom portraits. This is the first one I’ve entered into any competition so I’m thrilled to bits that its won a Highly Commended. This is an incredibly big deal!!!
A huge thank you to Danni for taking the time and working with me on this image (part of a series of bridal portraits).
I am absolutely delighted!
