At last we have some movement on weddings! Even our very own Princess Beatrice couldn’t wait any longer and opted for a small intimate weekday micro wedding last Friday to her new husband Edo.
In England from August 1st we will be allowed to have wedding reception for up to 30 people. And fingers crossed from October even more with the aim for a move towards normality as we head towards Christmas. This also gives hope for receptions in Wales and Scotland too.
However; local authorities will have the power to close certain establishments if they feel it necessary and to reduce the minimum permitted numbers in order to control and contain the spread of coronavirus in the local area. So its not all plain sailing but there is hope.
At the time of writing this blog (20.07.2020) there is no indication of whether or not there will be a phased increase in numbers over the coming months. As the Prime Minister provided reference to receptions only taking place in COVID-19 secure venues hopefully we will get some guidence soon on exactly what will be allowed. This will mean that wedding businesses can then create a realistic plan.
I’m keeping my fingers crossed that those couples with larger weddings for October an onwards can go ahead as planned. At the moment without exception for me; all weddings until October have been changed to be a small and ‘Covid safe’ wedding with a celebration on a larger scale at a later date. Or they have been postponed to 2021.
Its a really challenging time for the wedding industry and your support is very much appreciated in ensuring that our industry is not forgotten.
