Life has changed beyond comprehension. If life feels normal then that’s not normal at the moment. We are living through a surreal time. A time of quiet. And for my Clients their dreamed of days have been put on hold for the foreseeable. Many now having to wait another 12 months until they can say “I do”.
It brings friends and families together. At a time when we need each other the most we can’t be together.
And so as I sat with a cup of coffee gazing out of the window at the clear blue sky I started thinking about how we can create some energy and love in this challenging situation we find ourselves in. How to stop 2020 being an absolute write off. How to make magical memories for wedding days that are no longer.
And so I thought about how my couples could still celebrate the date so that their 2020 date is looked back on with love and laughter rather than disappointment and sadness. And so I thought up Pledge Day!
A ‘pledge’ is a solemn promise or undertaking.
Your own Wedding Pledge Day is your postponed wedding day date. Make sure you celebrate it together and of course share it with your family and friends.
Create your own Wedding Pledge vows to each other. Write them out and frame them. Have them on show when your new wedding date comes along.
Create a Zoom or Skype call where you can share your pledge with your family and friends present albeit virtually. If you were due to be a guest and you’re invited to the be there virtually get your hat on!
Create a lockdown picnic and have this in your living room to celebrate your Wedding Pledge Day. With bubbles of course!
Tell people it would have been your wedding day, share your engagement photographs again. People will love to see them.
Take selfies of your Wedding Pledge Day celebrations and share them with your family and friends.
If you have confetti throw it up in the air and walk through it!
Dress up for the day and make it a special day (just like you did for your engagement photo shoot).
Above all celebrate your day. Share with your family and friends.
And of course please share your very own Pledge Day stories over on our Facebook Page and tag NKP (@nikkikirkphotography) in on your Instagram posts using the hashtag #ourweddingpledgeday
Your family, friends, and wedding pros are all behind you. We know how much your wedding day means and we want to celebrate albeit in a small way with you. You are much loved…
