A Kingscote Barn wedding for Claire & Andy

Kingscote Barn wedding photography

My goodness we were blessed with incredible weather this summer! And the wedding day of Claire and Andy at Kingscote Barn was no exception as the sun shone down on this lovely couple and this country venue.

Claire and Andy had chosen the rustic and elegant Kingscote Barn nestled in the Cotswolds for their wedding day ceremony and reception. Choosing an elegant summer theme and colours of peaches and blues. Lots of lovely little touches throughout the day that their guests adored. They had opted for an outdoor ceremony which if you have ever been to Kingscote Barn for a wedding is a memory you will never forget. The outside ceremony area has views across the surrounding pasture land which are unrivalled at a wedding venue.

There were so many well thought through details in this wedding with lots of ideas for you to steal!

I am thrilled to share a small selection of their Wedding Story with you here on the Weddings page.

Here is their Wedding Story… Enjoy!

Claire had opted to get ready at the super cute and very local Tuppence Barn located on the Owlpen Estate just a few minutes away.

Nikki’s Notes… Claire had opted for a cathedral length veil which we wanted to show off to its full effect. This is where blue tape comes in! Its tape I use to keep things in position for images such as this. Its kind of a magic tape which comes off easily, doesn’t pull even the most delicate of fabrics, and it doesn’t mark walls etc. An essential piece in my kit bag.

Lots of fun getting ready with make up being applied…!Kingscote Barn wedding photography

A really special touch for Claire’s bouquet. A photograph of her much loved late Father was added to ensure that he was with her throughout her wedding day.

Nikki’s Notes… Add a small photograph of a loved one to your bouquet. It surprising how much comfort it will bring.

Nikki’s Notes… Easy to recreate and definitely an idea to steal…. Chalk board in a gilt frame with a message for your guests on arrival.

Nikki’s Notes… I just love the props used here at Kingscote Barn! Simple and rustic yet exquisite…

Nikki’s Notes… Another steal of an idea! Make your own with a cork table mat and marker pens!

Nikki’s Notes… It was a blisteringly hot day and Claire wore a stunning ivory dress with a large skirt. However… a large white dress on a very sunny day is like looking directly into the sun! Wedding dresses are a bit like a huge reflector bouncing sunshine back at you as a photographer.

Photographers Top Tip: don’t be afraid to use your speed light in these situations to balance everything out!

These two did ever so well walking towards this bank of cameras and mobile phones! When you look at it from this angle its quite daunting! Something to be mindful of if you are a guest at a wedding!

Clare’s lovely Mum walked her daughter down the aisle to Andy…

This was a smashing idea… bubbles instead of confetti!

Another great idea to steal… bottled beer in a metal container and packed with ice.

Another cracking idea to steal… lawn games for your guests!Kingscote Barn wedding photography

Nikki’s Notes… I had taken the time to get to know Claire and Andy and their girls before their wedding day. Something I do with all of my clients. Its an investment in time I feel is well spent. As a result the girls were comfortable with me taking their photographs and became my little helpers!

This was such a special place. A bench made out of pallets in memory of Claire’s Father. This enabled members of the family to sit and think and have a moment remembering.

Nikki’s Notes… I regularly get asked about group photographs and if I take them as there seems to be a trend for pure documentary photography at the moment. Yes is the answer! I very much think that weddings are one of the few times entire families and friend groups get together for a happy celebration and for the sake of twenty minutes out of an entire day it is well worth doing.

For Claire’s and Andy’s photographs we drove up to the open fields. They had told me how much they loved the wide open landscapes of Kingscote and so we made the most of them…

Nikki’s Notes… A few days before I popped into the local newsagents and saw these princess cameras attached to a magazine. I had already planned that we would be going off for some photographs and knew that the girls would be travelling with me. So these were all ready for them on the back seat of the car!

Nikki’s Notes… Pallets were so on trend this summer and I think for next summer too! Frames with the seating plan details were attached to a pallet for guests to find their seats.

I loved that they found a wine with the same name as them!

Another great idea… Give your guests coupons for a drink on you as a wedding favour.Kingscote Barn wedding photography

Nikki’s Notes… Even though we have had one of the hottest summers on record the evenings could still get a little chilly so these blankets were a great idea. Flip Flops too for those tired feet!

Many congratulations Claire and Andy!
