On what must have been the hottest weekend of last year, Jan and Adrian were married at a stunning summer wedding in Lower Slaughter.
The Slaughters Country Inn was the location for this awesome weekend of wedding celebrations and I was delighted to be asked to cover both the rehearsal dinner the evening before and the wedding day itself.
What an incredible weekend of love, laughter and promises for a happy ever after.
Smaller weddings are beautiful and the best bit is that as a couple you get to spend some proper time with each and every one of your guests.
Here in their own words (with some extra notes thrown in from me!) is the Wedding Story of Jan and Adrian…
The perfect Cotswold retreat for friends and family…
Late afternoon the day before the wedding, friends and family of Jan and Adrian travelled to Lower Slaughter in the Cotswolds in readiness for their wedding day.
A magical afternoon and evening topped off with a BBQ hosted by the Slaughters Country Inn for this lovely couple and their guests started the wedding celebrations off in style.
Music was provided by the fabulous Gerry!
Gorgeous wedding rehearsal dinner cup cakes!
Jan and Adrian chose the Slaughters Country Inn after spending a weekend in the Cotswolds and falling in love with the hotel. Originally Jan told me, they had no intention of looking for a venue on their weekend trip. It was fate!
Time for laughter and catching up!
I was so pleased that Jan and Adrian agreed that I could steal them away from their friends and family for ten minutes to take these gorgeous images by the river.
The coolness of the river and the shade made for a lovely contrast and romantic setting for these images taken on the hottest day of 2019.
I asked Jan and Adrian what had made them choose me as their wedding photographer? Their reply… “When we met you at a wedding fair we fell in love with you”! How gorgeous is that! And I’m so delighted that we have kept in touch and I’m very much looking forward to seeing them in the not too distant future.
And then it was time to go, with the wedding day the following day to look forward to…
Another scorcher of a day dawned for the wedding day of Jan and Adrian…
Jan and Adrian were married with just two witnesses early on the morning of their wedding day at The Slaughters Country Inn. It was a huge honour to be one of the few to witness this very special time and to photograph this for them.
This loved up couple met over 35 years ago when Jan was a patient of Adrian’s and they stayed in touch only coming together recently.
Then it was official and the celebrations of the day could begin in earnest!
Jan’s exquisite dress was the first one of 13 she tried on! She bought this stunning gown from Celebrations Bridal House in Ossett, Yorkshire.
The gorgeous bridesmaids dresses were from Angel Brides in Leeds, Yorkshire.
This incredibly generous duo had bought their bridesmaids gifts from Tiffany & Co.
Maddy from Wedding Paint worked her magic to enhance Jan’s gorgeousness for her wedding day.
How cute are the flower girls!
I’m so thrilled that this image (above) has already won a Bronze Bar from the Guild of Photographers!
Our Groom Adrian with his friend the Rev. Raymond Biddiss who you’ll recognise as one of the witnesses from their official ceremony earlier in the day. Ray is also a celebrant and they wanted him to conduct the wedding service with everyone present which is why they had the legal ceremony earlier in the day. What a perfect solution!
The absolutely stunning bouquets and floral decorations throughout the day were created by uber florist Lilyfee Floral Designs.
How perfect is this outdoor ceremony…
More stunning flowers by Lilyfee (above) and bespoke ceremony decorations by Jan’s friends.
After Jan was walked down the aisle by her Brother he passed her hand over to Adrian for the wedding ceremony to begin. I love this custom; a show of support and safety, love and hope.
A photographer never misses the funny moments (above!).
Adrian and Jan’s wedding rings were from Tiffany & Co.
Jan (an accountant) and Adrian (a retired dentist) came all the way from Yorkshire to Lower Slaughter for their weekend of wedding celebrations.
This fun loving couple got up and danced during their ceremony!
Lower Slaughter is everything you want from a quintessentially Cotswold village! Its a photographers dream for locations…
I love that Jan and Adrian looked so serene and happy in amongst the crowds of tourists!
Jan and Adrian had created a lot of the decor themselves for their wedding breakfast.
Heartfelt speeches full of laughter and tears of joy…
Their wedding cake was made by The Cheltenham Cakery
As guests spilled out into the evening sunshine, Adrian’s daughter and her friend serenaded them all…
What a wonderful couple of days!
