Well I jumped out of my chair in the editing suite and did a little dance around the room when this came through this week!
To win a silver bar from The Guild of Photographers is a huge achievement. The Guild of Photographers is one of our professional industry bodies who set the standard for photography and photographers across the UK.
When entering these competitions I am competing at national level which is hugely exciting and a real adrenaline rush when the results come in, if a little daunting! Wedding photography is known for being challenging. You don’t have excess time to tweak images taken on location at the time, they have to be right first time, every time. I don’t rely on Photoshop, I prefer to get my work right in camera first time round and the images I enter into the competitions have often just had odd things like exit signs removed to clean them up rather than ‘correcting’ things that should be right to start with.
Interestingly even though Wedding Photography is a hugely emotional subject to photograph, the judges are looking at technical ability rather than the emotion you might capture, making it doubly hard!
I’m so so pleased to have won this SILVER BAR for this image taken at the wedding of Becky and Antony at Eastington Park on July 14th this year!
