Merry Midwinter – A Sneaky Peek!

Just before we closed for the Christmas holidays (and lockdown 3.0 took hold) I took part in a bespoke bridal photo shoot at Hampton Court Castle.

Gemma of Eucalyptus Events had asked me if I would be her handpicked photographer for this magical winter wonderland shoot at this exquisite historical castle location. The romance and history of a castle is all too big a temptation for this history loving archaeology grad photographer!

When Gemma visited Hampton Court Castle back in August she fell in love with this venue straight away. You just can’t fail to be impressed! She instantly knew that it would be the perfect place for a special shoot. And as for me…? I couldn’t wait to get started using the architectural bones of the castle to frame the images.

Merry Midwinter

The winter theme was cool and frosty, creating a winter wonderland. Lots of cool blues, frosty greens and neutrals to create a crisp, enchanting, wintery ambience…

The low light of December, milky and grey, never makes for a quick and easy shoot. But then again I love a challenge and the many years of training in off camera flash and learning how to read light pay off every time I’m given a challenge like this. The weather was closing in and we had a few hours of poor quality daylight. Did that matter? Not at all for this crack team of wedding professionals! Perfectly lit, sensitive to the historical castle location we were working in, and capturing the romance of a winter wedding.
