Saturday 3rd August 2013 and the sun was already up and ready to go nice and early on what was to be a sun soaked day for the wedding of Beccy and Jay.
First thing that morning I found Beccy and her bridesmaids and her Mum all having their hair and make up done in Harani Hair in Cheltenham – I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a chilled out group – maybe the champagne had something to do with it!
Beccy’s dress and those of her bridesmaids were waiting for them at her childhood home.
Beccy’s dress was a Pronovias dress from The White Collection in Stow on the Wold under Rachel’s expert guidance. A proper princess dress!
Beccy and Jay were married at Cambray Baptist Church which many of you will know is next to Tailors in the centre of Cheltenham allowing for the wedding guests to have a cheeky beer before the ceremony started – and a chance to keep out of the heat of the day which had already started to build.
The bridesmaids arrived first…
Followed by Beccy and her proud Father…
Some of Beccy’s pupils were there to greet their teacher on her big day.
Cambray Baptist Church was nice and cool by contrast and the ceremony that followed was filled with love and tears of happiness and a giggle moment…
Beccy couldn’t get Jay’s wedding ring on his finger due to the heat of the day making his fingers swell a little.
She turned to the congregation and just announced ‘he’s just so hot’ at which point everyone fell about laughing!
Talk about an unintended double entendre!
A lovely touch to the proceedings – as Beccy and Jay went to sign the Register, on the large screens at the front of the Church there was a slide show of images of the two of them including some from their pre shoot.
The heat of the day was proving wilting so after a few group photographs in front of the Church everyone headed off to the stunning Pittville Pump Rooms.
However I had arranged to meet Beccy and Jay by the lake at the bottom of the long lawn of the Pump Rooms to take their photographs.
Beccy and Jay then made their way up the long lawn to greet their guests, past picnickers and people playing frisbee in the afternoon sunshine.
One little girl who was picnicking with her family wanted to know if Beccy was a ‘real princess’! ‘Of course’ I replied!
Following some more photographs and some cooling champagne accompanied by delicious canapés, the guests were received by Beccy and Jay and their parents.
Beccy and Jay had named their tables after places on their road trip across America. And bless them they had created a ‘suppliers table’ for the band and for me to have a yummy dinner!
And onto the speeches…
When you get to know a couple and spend time with them you have a insight into their world, and well, I have never laughed so hard!
Very glad I had the camera on a tripod. But as for what was said… well that remains between the guests (and me!)!
Beccy’s and Jay’s cake was a three tier creation with the most beautiful decoration and I was reliably informed tasted amazing.
Beccy followed tradition and threw her bouquet…!
Their dance to ‘Feels like home’ was followed by everyone taking to the dance floor with the fun of the day followed well into the night.
A beautiful day for a beautiful couple…
I also met Jo at the wedding and am delighted to be photographing her wedding to Tommy on the same weekend this summer!
