Still got Royal Wedding fever?!

Still got Royal Wedding fever? I know I have!

There’s nothing like a perfect wedding on a perfect English summers day to make everyone smile when they think back to it.

Two people in love, the joining together of two families, and of course as it was a royal wedding; all of the pageantry and sparkle you would expect.

There has been a lot of comment on the wedding photographs taken by Alexi Lubomirski both in the photography community and on social media across the globe. But whatever you think of them, it shows just how challenging being a wedding photographer is!

Watch his wedding day interview here… I love Alexi’s portrait work, he is absolutely outstanding in his field.

For me I have also loved seeing the documentary photographs that have come from the press and the public who so patiently waited in Windsor for their moment.

Here are my three personal favourites from the day:

1.

I absolutely love this image taken by photographer Yui Mok. He’s a staff photographer for @PA in the UK and was perfectly positioned on the roof of the George IV Gateway of Windsor Castle where they passed directly beneath him during their carriage procession. The image is pretty much perfect! They are holding hands in the middle of the carriage as if its their secret whilst their outside hands are free to lift and wave to those who had waited to see them. They are both looking in the same direction, their bodies completely in sync with one another. They are almost a heart shape – could this get any more romantic!!!

I also am thrilled that Yui Mok gave a big shout out to the team at @AP picture desk, who cropped and tidied up the raw image that was sent to them directly from his cameras on the day. These are the unsung support teams which we in the photography industry couldn’t do without. So whilst we’re saying thank yous; a big shout out to my team. Those you see on the wedding days and those behind the scenes in a support capacity. Its always team work.

2.

I have absolutely no idea where this image came from or who took it. My apologies to the Photographer(s) – please let me know if it was you and I will add the credit straight away.

This image is so personal.

The Duchess of Sussex had endured a trying week with her Father making the decision not to attend her wedding due to ill health. That our future King stepped into the role and stepped up to walk his new daughter in law down the aisle to his Son had me in tears. It was perfect in every way. His clear devotion to his son and his welcome with open arms to his new daughter in law is what everyone hopes for on their wedding day.

The look between them as he offers his arm; its a moment of support, mutual trust, and confidence of the future. What’s not to love!

3.

And finally my third absolute favourite from the big day.

This one was taken from the crowds by Francesca Worrall and Louise Collingwood who had travelled all the way from our home county of Gloucestershire early that morning with Mum Sally for just a glimpse of the new Duke and Duchess of Sussex and boy didn’t they get the perfect glimpse!

Our new Duchess looks blissfully happy and she’s smiling straight down the lens of the camera directly at the girls. Its almost as if she’s having a moment just with them. That wonderful smile from one friend to another on her wedding day.

Fab photo Frankie and Louise! Thank you for sharing on Facebook!
